Taking care of the body is not prohibited, ranging from diligent exercise to reducing the intake of food that enters the body, aka diet. To reduce weight, there are various diets that can be chosen according to body conditions.
For both health and appearance reasons, losing weight is something that many people around the world do. To facilitate the loss of excess fat in the body, various diets or eating patterns are widely available. Do not be confused to choose from the many available diets, adjust to the needs and abilities of your body.
Diet 5:2
The 5:2 diet consists of eating normally for five days and then fasting for two days a week. In addition to losing weight, this diet is claimed to increase life span, improve cognitive function, and protect the brain from conditions such as dementia and Alzheimer's disease. This diet also protects the body from various diseases.
According to one study, the 5:2 diet is thought to help reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by increasing insulin sensitivity. Meanwhile, other research reveals, the 5:2 diet can help reduce the risk of cancer associated with obesity and breast cancer. However, these two studies still require further study and evidence.
Side effects of this diet are mood swings (irritable), difficulty sleeping, bad breath, dehydration, and sleepiness during the day.
Dukan Diet
The next diet from a variety of diets that are commonly done is the Dukan diet. This diet emphasizes a diet high in protein and low in carbohydrates, and low in fat. The Dukan Diet is designed so that you don't feel hungry while on a diet. You can choose from 100 different types of food (72 animal and 28 plant), and you are allowed to eat as much of them as you want, as long as they are of the 100 types. This diet is thought to be able to lose weight as much as 15 kg in 8-10 weeks.
But don't be happy just yet, the Dukan diet is not free of side effects. Weight loss is largely due to loss of body fluids and muscle mass. You can experience fatigue, lack of certain nutrients, constipation, bad breath, dry mouth, to an increased risk of developing cancer if done continuously.
Paleo diet
The Paleo diet only allows you to eat natural foods like cavemen in prehistoric times. The foods in question are lean meats, eggs, fruits, vegetables, fish, nuts, seeds, and vegetable oils. While foods that should be avoided are dairy products, cereal seeds, processed foods and drinks, salt, sugar, and potatoes.
The Paleo diet does keep you from sugar, salt, and processed foods. But on the other hand, you can get bored quickly because eating tastes bland, spend more money because you have to eat organic food, and it can even lead to insufficient intake of carbohydrates and calcium. Moreover, there is no accurate record of how prehistoric humans ate, and there is no scientific evidence regarding the health claims of this diet.
Atkins diet
The Atkins diet loses weight by reducing or not eating simple carbohydrates at all, but consuming lots of protein and fat. In theory, when you're starving because you don't have enough carbohydrates, your body starts burning fat for energy. Like other types of diets, this diet can cause side effects, such as nutritional deficiencies, difficulty defecating, dizziness, insomnia, nausea, fatigue due to lack of carbohydrates, and potentially a lack of fiber.
In addition to the diet above, there are many other types of diets, such as the mayo diet, the Mediterranean diet, the DEBM diet, and the water diet, as well as the sirtfood diet. The effectiveness of each type of diet is not necessarily the same for everyone, depending on the body condition of the person on the diet and their diet before the diet.
So, before you try the various diets above, make sure you consult with a nutritionist first. Any adopting a diet can harm the condition and health of the body.
